How this guide is made

Windsor Play & Stay is an independent guide to one casino hotel in one Canadian city. It is published under its own name, by people with no stake in the property it covers. This page explains how it is put together, what it refuses to do, and how to tell us we are wrong.

What this site is not

• It is not Caesars Windsor, and it is not connected to Caesars Entertainment Windsor Limited or to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). Everything here is written about the property in the third person, because that is what we are: outside observers.
• It is not a booking site. There is no reservation form, no availability calendar and no rate table anywhere on this site. Bookings are made with the hotel.
• It is not an affiliate. No link on this site pays us. There are no promotional codes, no sign-up offers, no referral arrangements and no advertising.
• It is not paid for. Nobody can buy a listing, a ranking, a favourable paragraph or the removal of an unfavourable one.

Where the facts come from

Every factual claim on this site traces back to a compiled research file assembled before a word of copy was written. The sources behind it are the venue's own published pages, the regulator (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)), the Crown corporation that owns the property (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG)), the regional tourism board, the operator of the relevant border crossing, the municipality, and contemporary news reporting for anything that changed recently.

Every entry in it is graded by how well it stands up. Well-supported facts are published plainly, weaker ones are published with the caveat attached, and anything we could not confirm is left out rather than smoothed over. That last rule is the one that shapes this site most.

What we deliberately left out

These are the specific gaps, listed so you can see the shape of what is missing rather than assume we simply did not look:

• Slot machine count — published figures range from about 1,700 to nearly 3,000, so none of them is reliable enough to print.
• Table game count — published figures disagree, and we could not confirm a current one with the property.
• Convention and meeting space — two published figures conflict, so we describe the space without a number.
• Storey counts for the two hotel towers — sources disagree, so we simply say there are two towers.
• The toll-free reservations number — two different numbers circulate, so we publish only the line we could confirm.
• Border toll prices — they change, so check them on the day rather than trusting a figure printed here.
• Any dress code — Ontario has no province-wide rule and the property publishes none, so we invent neither.
• Room rates, room categories, restaurant hours, menus and show line-ups — all of these move constantly, and belong on the venue's own site rather than here.

In every one of those cases we could have written a plausible-looking number. A guide that fills gaps with plausible numbers is indistinguishable from a guide that is right, until the moment it matters to a reader standing at a front desk.

Canadian spelling, Canadian money

This site is written in Canadian English. Prices, where we give any at all, are in Canadian dollars. Addresses and telephone numbers follow Canadian conventions. We say this explicitly because a great deal of travel writing about Windsor is produced for an American audience and quietly switches currencies halfway through.

Responsible gambling is not a footnote

The age line and the ConnexOntario number appear in the footer of every page on this site, including the legal pages. That is a deliberate design decision rather than a compliance checkbox: someone who needs that number is unlikely to be reading the page we would have chosen to put it on. Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date, or reads as though we are the venue rather than an observer of it, we want to know. Write to contact@windsorplaystay.com or use the contact form. Tell us the page, the sentence and, if you have one, the source. We will correct it, or remove the claim entirely if we cannot support it. We do not argue with people who send us better information.
